The Daily Telegraph (disappointingly unharrumphable today) has this picture:
A sculpture of a polar bear and her cub stranded on an iceberg was floated down the Thames to raise awareness of climate change.
Hmm.
Out of a side-street something huge and white moved suddenly into his field of vision. For a moment his mind refused to accept the [...]

I am obliged to Henry North London for the complete and correct lyrics for ‘What shall we do with the drunken sailor?’
It can, I think, be safely assumed that the Ambush Predator has by now submitted to fakecharities.org the deplorable organisation who have seen fit to Bowdlerise one of the best-known British sea-shanties.
I have always [...]

People are becoming fed up with hearing El Gordo [Sp.: 'the fat one'] blethering on about ‘British jobs for British workers’ and then being passed over for employment in favour of foreigners.
It says in The Telegraph that
No 10… stopped short of asking workers not to protest.
However, the 15-minute political-indoctrination slot which always follows the [...]

I e-mailed my MP a week ago about the information-sharing scandal, but have yet to receive a reply.
Perhaps if one writes to one’s MP more than once a year one is automatically filed as a nut job and one’s subsequent communications ignored.
Pah.

Mr. Eugenides found this on Ananova:
A Swedish motorist has been banned from using the letters ADHD on her personalised number plate – over fears it would offend attention deficit suffers.
Had I any Swedish, I would suggest to the lady in question that she might instead use the earlier acronym for the same thing. ADHD (er, [...]

I’m back. Words are now apparently being pressed in less time than it takes to make tea, roll a cigarette, and fetch the post. What was wrong with it I’m not really sure.
To amuse myself in default of laughing at people on the internet I made up a hasty A4 poster advertising fakecharities.org (which still [...]

Another fake charity

Tom Paine has detected another fake charity, and is miffed because he was until recently giving them money.
About as miffed as I was, perhaps, in much the same situation. I unhesitatingly grassed up the fake charity involved to fakecharities.org. Perhaps TP would consider doing the same.

[Ghurkali: 'Here come the Ghurkas']
Mr. Eugenides found this in the Times:
Thousands more Gurkha soldiers and their families will be given the right to settle in Britain under a new policy to be announced by the Home Office.
Damn right!
Why on earth this country should make it so difficult for people to live here who have [...]
