I note with considerable interest the proposal of David Davis, at the Libertarian Alliance, that (among other things)
…the Libertarian Alliance wishes to see, will henceforth actively work online for, a government administration formed by the LPUK…
I have no idea what the response of the rest of the Libertarian Alliance might be to this proposal, nor indeed that of the LPUK, but I await both with scarcely concealed impatience.
Of course there may be sufficient differences between the new party and the established think-tank to make such an arrangement inconvenient or likely to be interpreted as being in poor taste; if there are, I haven’t heard about them.
To me this seems like a reasonable idea because there appears to be little theoretical discrepancy between the two organisations and the practical problem of evicting this godawful government and ensuring that its like will not be seen again transcends, in my own view, any less mission-critical objectives.
However, I shall wait and see what happens next.
I’ve decided that we ought to help you. That is all. 73
I await developments with considerable interest as well !
Over here every so often there is a rumble among the Libertarians, that we “should make common cause” with some of these other outfits. This is in order to maybe win some actual elections. Goddess Alone knows I can sympathize with that one! But the Green Party is out, obviously enough, and these other deals, the Reform Party and so on, mainly deal in popular slogans and want to hold show trials and so on. The Baron and I and the rest of the southern Minnesota hardcore say “To Hell with that noise!” and so far we are holding our own. Most of us did vote for Jesse Ventura here for Governor (MN) back in the day (‘98), and while he is a bit of a showboat, he wasn’t a bad governor. He is just not a Libertarian. The trouble is that a guy like that sounds awfully close (or anyway at least DIFFERENT than all of these God-damned “two-party” bullshitters!)
Your “problem” to an outsider anyway seems to be much closer to just getting together a bunch of disparate INDIVIDUAL temperaments, and agreeing on what should be a minimalist programme, er, platform…manfesto? If you are as careful otherwise to try to be as honest as you all seem to be in your online doings, that should be fine. But…you are trying to put across a terrific uphill sales job, you know. If it was just people’s “right” to gape at porno, no problemo. But if you try to tell some guy in a tower block about “freedom” to maybe not have a place to live, you mainly are just going to scare the Anglo-Judeo Secret Zionist Be-Jesus out of the sonofabitch! I do NOT know what the answer to that one is and frankly have viewed telling my people about Liberty as a matter of sowing seeds that others may harvest after some sort of global breakdown.
I think this is a rather simpler case because the LA and the LPUK are very similar in their beliefs and objectives, perhaps unlike the more disparate Libertarian movements in the USA. There is at present no question of ‘making common cause’ with anyone else.
