[James Cameron: The Terminator]
I agree entirely with what Anna Raccoon says about the apparent loss of the authority of the High Court, which has been defied once by the Speaker of the Commons and again by a chief constable.
One of the purposes of government acceptable to libertarians is the maintenance of the rule of law. On this basis both of the individuals AR mentions should be prosecuted for contempt of court at once.
However, I can’t maintain the slightest interest in the McCann case, because I am convinced that had not a particularly big-eyed photo of the child in question been made available to the media, there would be no McCann case.
Much nastier cases (I vaguely remember one involving multiple rape, murder and the disposal of remains by selling as kebabs, which occurred at roughly the same time) are routinely ignored by the media and everybody else, simply because no such photo is available.
